Inter are expected to start Ange-Yoan Bonny alongside Marcus Thuram as they attempt to secure their first Champions League victory of the season against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The match begins at 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT), immediately after Como play Manchester United.
The reigning Serie A champions have lost both of their Champions League fixtures this season. Including last season’s results, Inter have now suffered defeat in seven of their past eight matches in the competition.
Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard are unavailable for the Nerazzurri, while there are also doubts over the team’s midfield and defensive selections.
According to several Italian sources, including Gazzetta and Sky, Bonny is set to lead the attack with Thuram. The forward partnership would be one of the main changes as Inter look to reverse their poor European form.
Carlos Augusto is currently expected to operate as the left-sided defender in a back three, which would leave Yann Bisseck on the substitutes’ bench. If Carlos Augusto is instead selected at left midfield, Bisseck would come into the starting XI and Federico Dimarco would drop out.
In central midfield, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is considered more likely to start than Piotr Zielinski. He is expected to line up alongside Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.
There are also several injury updates elsewhere. England internationals John Stones and Curtis Jones are injured, while Djed Spence is expected to remain on the bench because he is not yet fit enough to start.
Probable line-ups
Inter are expected to line up in a 3-5-2 formation: Josep Martinez; Akanji, Bastoni, Carlos Augusto; Diouf, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Bonny.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s predicted 4-1-4-1 is: Riznyk; Tobias, Bondar, Matvienko, Pedro Henrique; Ocheretko; Alisson, Pedrinho, Nazaryna, Newerton; Kaua Elias.
The game will be shown on TNT Sports 5 and HBO Max in the UK and Ireland, while viewers in the USA can watch it on Paramount+.
