Inside the only deal that could send Salah to Al-Ittihad

Speculation surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah has intensified, with fresh reports outlining a narrow pathway that could see the Egyptian forward join Al-Ittihad during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The possibility of such a move has drawn widespread attention, particularly after the Liverpool forward confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season. Interest from Saudi Arabia has been widely reported in international media, fuelling expectations of a high-profile transfer to the Roshan Saudi League.

However, conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the seriousness of that interest. Prominent media figure Waleed Al-Faraj has dismissed claims linking Salah to Saudi clubs, stating that the Egyptian is not currently a target for teams in the league, contrary to recent reports in English newspapers.

Further clarity has come from journalist Majid Hood, who is considered close to Al-Ittihad. Speaking on the programme “Our League is Different,” Hood explained that the club is not actively pursuing Salah as part of its transfer strategy for the next season.

He noted that Al-Ittihad’s recruitment policy has shifted, with the club prioritising younger players and aiming to reduce overall spending. These criteria, he suggested, make a move for a globally renowned and potentially expensive player like Salah unlikely under current conditions.

Despite this, Hood did not entirely rule out the prospect of a deal. Instead, he pointed to a single scenario that could revive the possibility of Salah joining the Jeddah-based side.

“There is one case that might transfer Mohamed Salah to Al-Ittihad, which is if one of the sponsors or foreign companies takes care of the deal from beginning to end,” he said.

This condition implies that any move would depend on external financial backing, rather than being funded directly by the club. Such an arrangement could potentially bypass the club’s current budgetary constraints and recruitment policy.

Hood was clear, however, that without this form of support, the transfer would not materialise. “Otherwise, Salah will not play for Al-Ittihad in the new season,” he added.

He concluded by emphasising that the uncertainty surrounding the move does not reflect on the player’s standing in the game. “but this does not diminish the value of the Egyptian star, who is one of the most prominent stars in the world.”

Uncertain Future Despite Global Interest

While Salah’s departure from Liverpool has inevitably sparked transfer speculation, the latest reports suggest that a move to Al-Ittihad remains unlikely unless external funding intervenes.

With Saudi clubs continuing to attract global attention in the transfer market, the situation highlights the balance between ambition and financial strategy. For now, Salah’s next destination remains unresolved, with only a specific financial arrangement capable of turning speculation into reality.
