Hull City have signed Germany-Ghana centre-forward Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin for €17m, with the 21-year-old joining the Premier League club on a contract running until 30 June 2031.
Ansah moves to England after one season with Union Berlin, having joined the Bundesliga side from SC Paderborn in July 2025 for €4m. His transfer to Hull was completed on 1 September 2026, bringing an end to his time in Germany’s top flight.
The 1.97m striker made one appearance for Union Berlin in the 2026-27 DFB-Pokal before completing his move, playing the full 90 minutes without scoring. He did not feature in the Bundesliga during the campaign before switching clubs.
Ansah began his senior career with Paderborn after progressing through the club’s under-19 set-up. He joined Paderborn’s youth ranks from Siegen under-19s in July 2022 and made the step into senior football the following year.
Born in Ludenscheid, Ansah holds German and Ghanaian nationality. He joins Hull as a right-footed central striker and becomes the latest player to move from the Bundesliga to the English club.
The deal takes Ansah to a club whose current league designation is the Premier League, while Union Berlin remain in the Bundesliga. His market value is recorded at €12m, placing the €17m transfer fee above that figure.
Ansah’s five-year agreement gives Hull control of his contract through the end of June 2031, and the move was officially registered on 1 September 2026.
