Iheanacho extends record-breaking scoring run for Bursaspor

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho extended his remarkable scoring run to 12 consecutive league matches as Bursaspor defeated Keçiörengücü 4-2 in the Turkish 1. Lig on Sunday.

The Super Eagles attacker scored five minutes into the second half at Aktepe Stadium, helping Bursaspor regain the lead in a match that had produced four first-half goals. The visitors went on to secure all three points after Lincoln added a fourth goal.

Iheanacho’s latest strike marks a new personal record for consecutive scoring appearances in Turkish league football. The forward had previously found the net in 11 successive league fixtures before extending that sequence against Keçiörengücü.

The 29-year-old has now scored 16 goals in 12 appearances for Bursaspor, maintaining an impressive return as the club continues its campaign in Turkey’s second division.

His latest contribution proved important in a closely contested encounter, with both sides scoring twice before the interval before Bursaspor took control after the break.

Iheanacho restores Bursaspor’s advantage

The match began with an early setback for Bursaspor when an own goal by Emirhan Başyiğit gave Keçiörengücü the lead in the seventh minute.

The visitors responded nine minutes later through Amine Boutrah, who brought the score level and put Bursaspor back into the contest.

The game continued at a lively pace, with Lewis Baker restoring Keçiörengücü’s advantage in the 35th minute. Bursaspor again had to fight back and managed to equalise shortly before half-time through Oğuzcan Çalışkan, who scored two minutes before the interval.

With both teams having found the net twice, the contest remained evenly balanced going into the second half.

Iheanacho then made the decisive contribution in the 50th minute, scoring to put Bursaspor ahead 3-2. His goal gave the visitors the advantage for the first time in the second half and continued his outstanding individual run.

Lincoln subsequently scored to make it 4-2, completing the comeback and securing a two-goal victory for Bursaspor.

The result highlighted the team’s ability to respond to setbacks, while Iheanacho once again demonstrated his importance in the attacking line-up.

Nigerian forward reaches new milestone

Iheanacho’s goal against Keçiörengücü was significant beyond its immediate impact on the match, as it extended his scoring sequence to 12 consecutive league games.

The Nigerian had previously set a personal benchmark by scoring in 11 straight league appearances for Bursaspor. His latest effort took that achievement a step further, establishing a new record for his longest consecutive scoring run in Turkish football.

The forward’s consistency has been reflected in his overall statistics for the club. With 16 goals from 12 appearances, he has maintained a prolific scoring rate since featuring for the Turkish side.

The former Leicester City and Celtic player has continued to deliver goals throughout the league campaign, with his latest performance adding another milestone to his spell at Bursaspor.

His scoring streak also provides the club with a significant attacking boost as it pursues its objectives in the Turkish second division.

Bursaspor look to maintain momentum

Bursaspor will be encouraged by the result after recovering from two first-half deficits to secure a convincing victory on Sunday.

The team’s four goals ensured they overcame a determined Keçiörengücü side, while the contributions of Iheanacho and Lincoln proved crucial in the second half.

For Iheanacho, attention will now turn to maintaining his extraordinary consistency in front of goal. Having scored in 12 consecutive league matches, the Nigerian forward will seek to extend the run further as the campaign progresses.

His tally of 16 goals in 12 appearances underlines the impact he has made at Bursaspor, where his performances have become an important feature of the club’s pursuit of success.

Sunday’s victory therefore delivered both a valuable result for Bursaspor and another landmark achievement for the Super Eagles forward, whose scoring form continues to attract attention in Turkish football.
