Senegalese centre-back Ibrahima Ba of Famalicao is being linked with a move to fellow Liga Portugal side Sporting as the Lisbon club assess options to strengthen their defence. The 21-year-old, who has a contract with Famalicao until 30 June 2030, is currently valued at around €12m, a figure that would make any deal a significant outlay within the Portuguese market.
Ba established himself in the Famalicao first team after being promoted from the club’s under-23s in July 2025, and his emergence in the top flight has drawn domestic attention. He made 23 Liga Portugal appearances last season, scoring once and providing one assist, underlining his status as a regular starter at centre-back.
Born in Boune, Ba began his senior career with AJEL Rufisque before a loan spell at French side Valenciennes. He returned to the Senegalese club in 2024 and then moved to Famalicao’s under-23 set-up that summer, progressing quickly to the senior squad. Standing at 1.90m and playing predominantly as a right-footed central defender, he has become one of Famalicao’s most notable assets.
Any approach from Sporting would have to take into account the length of Ba’s current deal and his recent rise in valuation, with Famalicao under no contractual pressure to sell. For now, Ba remains tied to the Vila Nova club on a long-term agreement running through to 2030.
