Algeria international Ibrahim Maza has opened the door to a possible move to Paris St-Germain after admitting that playing for the French club would be a dream.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder made the comments amid reports that Paris St-Germain are monitoring his progress, although there have been no formal negotiations over a transfer.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Maza said: “Of course, it would be a big dream to play one day for such a prestigious club. I think we all recognise the greatness of Paris St-Germain. They are one of the best clubs in the world, alongside Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.”
The 20-year-old added, according to Foot Mercato: “Playing for a club like that is a goal I am working towards, as it is for many footballers.”
Maza’s comments are likely to increase speculation about his future, but reports suggest Paris St-Germain have not yet decided to make a move for the player.
German media have reported that the French champions are following Maza, who is regarded as one of the emerging talents capable of strengthening their attack in the coming years.
However, RMC has reported that Paris St-Germain do not currently intend to open talks for the player. Maza’s market value is estimated at about 50m euros by Transfermarkt.
Bayer Leverkusen are also understood to be keen to keep the midfielder. His current contract runs until 2030, but the German club are seeking an extension after a series of impressive performances established him as an important member of the squad.
Maza has even been viewed by some as a potential successor to Florian Wirtz, who is now a Liverpool player.
Paris St-Germain are assessing attacking options, particularly after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a long-term cruciate ligament injury. Despite that absence, the club are not believed to be eager to sign a replacement during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Manager Luis Enrique said injuries alone would not necessarily lead to new arrivals.
“No, not necessarily,” he said. “The absence of players because of injuries does not necessarily mean signing new players. At the start of the season I said that we were capable of dealing with anything, even serious injuries, but we remain open to the opportunities available.”
Paris St-Germain have also been linked with Bournemouth’s 20-year-old French striker Eli Junior Kroupi, following English reports that the club’s interest in him had been renewed.
Maza and Kroupi therefore remain among the names mentioned in connection with Paris St-Germain’s attacking plans, although there is no indication that the club is close to completing either deal.
Bayer Leverkusen are listed to play Marseille in the Europa League on 05 November 2026. Paris St-Germain are listed to face Troyes in Ligue 1 on 07 November 2026.
