A second Hull City player has been involved in a car crash on the way to training, only three weeks after team-mate Sorba Thomas flipped his vehicle on the same residential road.
A Mercedes was found on its side on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, close to the Premier League club’s training ground. The player involved has not been identified.
Humberside Police said emergency services attended a single-vehicle collision at about 08:30 BST on Thursday, 1 October 2026. No-one was injured.
“Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026),” police said.
“Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision.”
The Mercedes was pictured on its side on the narrow residential road. Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath was photographed with the vehicle in an Instagram post on Wednesday, although the identity of the driver involved in the crash remains unknown.
Gourna-Douath joined Hull City from RB Salzburg in the summer in a £3million transfer and had recently taken delivery of a new vehicle.
The post, which appeared to advertise the car, said: “Another one! 2026 GLC 53 sourced for Lucas Gourna. Thank you for your order.”
The incident happened three weeks after Thomas crashed his Land Rover while travelling to training.
The 27-year-old was unhurt after his vehicle overturned on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at about 08:30. Images showed a grey Land Rover Defender lying on its roof, with its windows broken and a personalised number plate visible.
Residents were left stunned by the crash on the relatively narrow road. Local people said vehicles typically travelled along it at only about 15mph.
Thomas was able to play for Hull City the following day, coming on as a substitute in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
