Hansi Flick set to renew PSG rivalry as Barcelona seek first win under him

Barcelona will travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in the third round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, with Hansi Flick holding an evenly balanced record against the French club.

The Barcelona head coach has met Paris Saint-Germain four times during his managerial career, winning two matches and losing two. However, he has yet to beat them since taking charge of the Catalan side.

Flick’s first three meetings with Paris Saint-Germain came while he was in charge of Bayern Munich. His record in those matches was two victories and one defeat.

Bayern Munich overcame Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the 2019/20 Champions League final, with the result securing the trophy for the German club.

The sides met again in the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 Champions League. Bayern drew 1-1 away in the first leg before winning the return match 2-0 at home.

Flick’s most recent encounter with Paris Saint-Germain came after his appointment as Barcelona manager. The Blaugrana were beaten 2-1 by the French club in the 2024/25 Champions League group stage.

The upcoming fixture will therefore be Flick’s fifth match against Paris Saint-Germain and his second as Barcelona head coach. While his overall record remains level, he will be seeking to end his winless run against the club since arriving at Barcelona.
