Hamburg are monitoring Terem Moffi’s fitness before their Bundesliga meeting with TSG Hoffenheim, with head coach Merlin Polzin warning that the striker’s recovery will not be rushed.
The Nigeria international has been managing a knee problem since Hamburg’s most recent league match against FC Cologne. Moffi was substituted at half-time in that game, with Yussuf Poulsen taking his place.
Polzin said Hamburg would continue to assess the injury during the week before deciding whether Moffi is fit to feature against TSG Hoffenheim.
“We need to get to know his (Moffi’s) knee a little better through our work together. The knee reacted a bit more than I initially thought. Now we have to wait and see what happens this week,” Polzin told Kicker.
Moffi joined Hamburg on a season-long loan from OGC Nice and has made four Bundesliga appearances without scoring.
