Hakimi makes Ligue 1 team of the season for fourth consecutive year

Achraf Hakimi has once again been recognised among the leading players in French football after being selected in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for the fourth consecutive year.

The Moroccan international was included in the league’s ideal XI during the annual awards ceremony organised by the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP), held on Monday.

The prestigious ceremony, first introduced in 1988, honoured the standout performers of the 2025-26 French football season and featured several notable results, with RC Lens emerging as one of the evening’s biggest success stories.

Hakimi’s latest inclusion underlined his sustained excellence for Paris Saint-Germain FC, where he has remained one of the club’s most influential players in recent seasons.

PSG and Lens Dominate Team of the Season

Paris Saint-Germain provided five players in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season, while Lens contributed four members of the final selection.

The complete lineup included goalkeeper Robin Risser of Lens, defenders Hakimi, Malang Sarr, William Pacho and Nuno Mendes, alongside midfielders Corentin Tolisso, Vitinha and Mamadou Sangaré.

The attacking line featured Florian Thauvin, Ousmane Dembélé and Mason Greenwood.

The strong representation from PSG reflected another successful domestic campaign for the Parisian club, while Lens’ prominence highlighted the northern side’s impressive season.

Dembele Wins Best Player Award

PSG forward Ousmane Dembele secured the award for Ligue 1 Player of the Season after a campaign that further strengthened his reputation as one of Europe’s top attacking players.

Dembele finished ahead of several high-profile competitors, including teammate Vitinha and Marseille forward Mason Greenwood.

The French winger’s performances have also reportedly increased his standing in discussions surrounding major international honours, including the Ballon d’Or race.

Lens Coach and Goalkeeper Also Recognised

Pierre Sage of Lens was named Ligue 1 Coach of the Season after guiding the club to a second-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Lens also celebrated individual recognition for goalkeeper Robin Risser.

The 21-year-old won the award for the league’s best goalkeeper following an impressive campaign in which he kept 11 clean sheets in 32 league appearances.

The awards ceremony further highlighted the growing influence of younger talents in French football.

Désiré Doué of Paris Saint-Germain claimed the Young Player of the Season prize for the second consecutive year.

The award has now remained with PSG players for four straight seasons, underlining the club’s strength in developing emerging talent.

Bayern Munich Star Recognised Abroad

Outside Ligue 1, Michael Olise of FC Bayern Munich was named the best French player competing abroad.

The Bayern Munich attacker earned the honour after recording 50 goal contributions — combining goals and assists — across all competitions during the season.

For Hakimi, however, the night represented another milestone in an already remarkable spell in France.

By securing a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for the fourth year in succession, the Moroccan defender reinforced his status as one of the most reliable and influential players in the French top flight.
