Anis Hadj Moussa has left the Algeria national football team training camp ahead of their international friendlies, after being ruled out through injury.
The decision was confirmed by the Algerian Football Federation, which said the winger had arrived at camp already carrying a fitness problem and would not be available for selection.
In a statement, the federation explained: “Anis Hadj Moussa joined the national team’s training camp while suffering from an injury. He underwent medical examinations which confirmed his unavailability to participate in the two friendly matches. Following this diagnosis, the national coach decided to authorize the player to leave the camp in order to return to his club and continue the necessary treatment for his recovery.”
Head coach Vladimir Petkovic subsequently allowed the player to return to his club to continue rehabilitation, prioritising his recovery over short-term involvement with the national team.
Hadj Moussa’s absence is a setback for Algeria as they prepare for two friendly matches during the international break. The team is scheduled to face Guatemala national football team and Uruguay national football team in what are expected to be key tests for the squad.
No replacement has been announced following his withdrawal, leaving the coaching staff to adjust their plans for the upcoming fixtures.
The development comes during an important preparatory period for Algeria, as Petkovic looks to assess his squad and refine tactical options. Hadj Moussa had been expected to play a role in these matches, but his fitness concerns have forced an early exit from the camp.
For now, the focus remains on the player’s recovery, while Algeria continue their preparations without one of their attacking options.
