Former Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta has undergone another operation to correct a varus deformity, a condition that troubled him for several years and continued to affect his knees after he retired from professional football.
The procedure was carried out to address the condition, which affects the alignment of the lower limbs and causes the legs to take on an “O” shape, according to pianetamilan.it.
In Zambrotta’s case, the problem became significantly worse after he ended his playing career, partly because his menisci had been removed.
The former Italy international retired from professional football in 2013.
