Ghana U-15 side storm through Group W with 27 goals

The National U-15 Boys team of Ghana, the Black Comets, have completed the Group W stage of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan with five victories from five matches after beating Kazakhstan 2-1 in their final fixture.

Goals from Angel Junior Adjei and Shamsudeen Sulemana secured the win, giving Ghana a maximum 15 points to finish at the top of the group.

The young side scored 27 goals and conceded only three across their five matches, underlining their attacking strength and defensive discipline throughout the group campaign.

Ghana began the competition with a 4-1 victory against Uzbekistan before producing a more emphatic performance in a 7-1 win over Myanmar.

They maintained their momentum with consecutive 7-0 victories against Guam and the Bahamas, before completing their unbeaten run with the narrow success over Kazakhstan.

The result against Kazakhstan ensured the Black Comets finished the group stage without dropping a point and will now wait to discover their opponents in the next phase of the competition.

Five wins from five matches

Ghana established themselves as one of the leading sides in Group W through a series of convincing performances.

Their opening 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan provided a positive start before they increased their scoring output against Myanmar, finding the net seven times in a 7-1 triumph.

The Black Comets then recorded back-to-back clean-sheet victories, defeating Guam 7-0 and repeating the same scoreline against the Bahamas.

Those results helped build an impressive goal difference before the final group fixture against Kazakhstan.

The 2-1 victory in that match was their closest contest of the campaign, but the team did enough to preserve their perfect record and secure all 15 available points.

Their ability to produce high-scoring wins in the earlier fixtures and then emerge victorious in a tighter encounter against Kazakhstan demonstrated their effectiveness across different match situations.

Sulemana among the goals

Shamsudeen Sulemana was one of the players to make a significant contribution during Ghana’s group-stage run.

The forward scored twice in the 7-0 victory over the Bahamas, helping the Black Comets maintain their attacking momentum.

Jerry Owusu also continued his scoring run in that match, while Joli Saelji, Abubakari Abdul Karim, Nathaniel Owusu and Angel Junior Adjei were also on target.

The spread of goalscorers highlighted the attacking contributions of several players as Ghana continued to find ways past their opponents.

Adjei and Sulemana then scored against Kazakhstan to secure the 2-1 win that brought the group campaign to a successful conclusion.

Their goals proved decisive in a match that was more closely contested than Ghana’s previous two fixtures, when they had recorded seven-goal victories without conceding.

Strong attacking record

The Black Comets finished the five-match group stage with 27 goals scored and only three conceded.

Their highest-scoring result came against Myanmar, when they registered seven goals while allowing one in reply. They also scored seven times against Guam and the Bahamas without conceding.

The opening win against Uzbekistan produced four Ghana goals, while the final match against Kazakhstan added two more to their tally.

Across the campaign, Ghana combined consistent scoring with results that allowed them to maintain first place in Group W.

Their 15-point total confirmed a flawless group-stage record, with victories in every match played.

Focus turns to the next phase

Having secured top spot in Group W, Ghana will now await confirmation of their opponents in the next stage of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan.

The Black Comets will aim to carry their confidence and scoring form into the upcoming fixtures as they continue their pursuit of success in the competition.

Their group campaign has provided a strong foundation, with five wins, 27 goals scored and only three conceded.

The victory over Kazakhstan ensured that Ghana ended the opening phase exactly as they had begun it: with a win. The young side will now look to build on that record when their next challenge is confirmed.
