Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 28-man squad for a pre-World Cup preparation camp in Wales, as the team steps up its preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The squad, which began training on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Dragon Park in Cardiff, will also feature in an international friendly against Wales as part of the build-up schedule. The group is made up of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards.
The camp is designed to fine-tune the squad ahead of Ghana’s participation at the World Cup, where the Black Stars will compete in Group L against England, Croatia and Panama.
Ghana head into the tournament with renewed optimism, as several key players return to the squad following injury and extended absences.
Among the most notable inclusions is left-back Baba Abdul Rahman, who returns to international duty after an impressive run of form with Greek side PAOK. His experience and attacking output down the flank are expected to strengthen Queiroz’s defensive structure.
Also returning is winger Ernest Nuamah, who has been out of action for over a year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. His recovery and return to the national setup will be seen as a major boost to Ghana’s attacking options.
Defender Abdul Mumin is also back in the fold after recovering from injury, alongside midfielder Augustine Boakye and full-back Alidu Seidu, both of whom have impressed at club level in recent months.
In addition, Ajax youngster Paul Reverson has been handed a call-up for assessment during the camp, as Queiroz continues to broaden his options and evaluate emerging talent ahead of the tournament.
Queiroz’s selection reflects a balance between experience and youth, with the coaching staff using the Cardiff camp to assess fitness levels, tactical readiness and squad cohesion before finalising plans for the World Cup.
The friendly against Wales will provide a further test of Ghana’s readiness, offering competitive opposition ahead of the global tournament.
Ghana’s Group L campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will see them face three European and North American sides in England, Croatia and Panama, with expectations high that the team can progress beyond the group stage.
For Queiroz and his technical team, the focus now shifts to refining combinations and ensuring the squad peaks at the right time as the countdown to the tournament continues.
