French coach Patrice Beaumelle has reportedly been put forward as a candidate for the vacant Ghana Black Stars head coach position, with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said to be considering his application.
The GFA has been searching for a new coach since ending its working relationship with Carlos Queiroz, who was in charge of the national team during the 2026 World Cup. The recruitment process has now entered a stage where several coaching profiles are being assessed, with Beaumelle understood to be among those under consideration.
According to information from Micky Jnr, the French coach’s CV has been submitted to the recruitment team handling the search for Queiroz’s successor.
The GFA leadership is reportedly positive about Beaumelle’s profile, particularly because of his considerable experience on the African continent and his knowledge of African football.

Beaumelle has built much of his coaching career around African football. His experience includes work in Zambia, Ivory Coast, Angola and Morocco, where he has served in both assistant and head coaching roles.
His background in the region is one of the factors that is understood to have strengthened his candidacy for the Ghana job.
The Frenchman is also familiar with the demands of international football, having previously worked alongside Hervé Renard. Beaumelle served as Renard’s assistant during a period in which the French coach guided teams to Africa Cup of Nations success in 2012 and 2015.
That experience has given Beaumelle an extensive understanding of the African international game, an attribute that could appeal to Ghana as the GFA seeks a coach capable of leading the Black Stars into their next phase.
Beyond his work with national teams, Beaumelle has also gained experience at club level. He has managed MC Alger and Espérance de Tunis, adding domestic and continental club football to his coaching background.
His most recent club experience came at Espérance de Tunis, where he left his mark before departing the club.
The GFA’s decision to consider Beaumelle comes as the association continues its search for a successor to Queiroz. The Portuguese coach’s departure has left Ghana looking for a new manager to take charge of the Black Stars.
Beaumelle’s previous involvement with national teams in Africa means he would arrive with an understanding of the continent’s football environment if he were eventually selected.
However, his inclusion in the recruitment process does not mean he has been appointed. The Frenchman is currently among the names being assessed as the Ghanaian federation evaluates potential candidates for the position.
The reported application therefore represents another development in the GFA’s search for a new Black Stars coach, with Beaumelle’s African experience potentially giving him an advantage as the recruitment team considers its options.
