Getafe claimed their first win of the 2026-27 Spanish Championship season by edging past Racing on home soil, with Enes Unal scoring the decisive goal four minutes after the visitors had missed a penalty.
The match offered little in the way of attacking excitement, with neither side able to create many clear opportunities during a largely uneventful opening half. Getafe and Racing struggled to turn possession into meaningful chances, and the contest remained goalless at the interval.
The second half followed a similar pattern for long periods. Neither team was able to establish sustained control or produce the moment of quality needed to break the deadlock.
Racing were handed the best opportunity of the match in the 77th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Andres Martin stepped forward to take responsibility from 12 yards, but he was unable to convert the spot-kick.
That miss proved costly. Getafe responded by increasing their attacking pressure as they looked to force a late winner. Their persistence was rewarded in the 81st minute, when Unal found the breakthrough and put the home side in front.
Racing had little time to recover after conceding, while Getafe protected their advantage to complete a narrow victory. The result gives Getafe their first three points of the new campaign after an afternoon in which chances were scarce but the hosts made the decisive moment count.
Getafe now have three points from the season, while Racing remain on one point.
