Nigeria forward Victor Orakpo has joined Genclerbirligi from Nice on loan, completing his move to the Turkish Super Lig club on 3 September.
The 20-year-old centre-forward’s loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, after which he is due to return to Nice. Orakpo has moved to Turkey following a spell with the French Ligue 1 side, where he did not make an appearance in the opening two league matches of the 2026-27 season.
Orakpo, who was born in Lokoja, stands 1.94m tall and is right-footed. He enters Genclerbirligi’s squad as a central attacking player after spending much of the previous campaign away from Nice on temporary moves.
The Nigeria international spent the first half of the 2025-26 season with Montpellier before joining AS Nancy on loan in February. He returned to Nice at the end of June, having previously gone back to the club after the conclusion of his Montpellier spell.
His route into Nice’s senior set-up began with OGC Nice B, whom he joined from Global Academy in January 2024. He moved into the wider Nice first-team structure in July that year, establishing the French club as his parent side before the latest departure.
Genclerbirligi play in Turkey’s top flight, while Nice compete in Ligue 1. The move therefore takes Orakpo into a new league and a different national football system as he continues his career away from France.
Orakpo’s arrival also marks another temporary chapter in a career that has included successive loans in France. His 2026-27 move to Genclerbirligi is the third loan recorded since the beginning of the 2025-26 season, following his spells with Montpellier and Nancy.
The forward has now left Nice for Genclerbirligi on a loan deal running through to June 2027.
