Gbolahan Salami becomes unattached after Al-Nasiriyah FC departure

Nigeria striker Gbolahan Salami is without a club after ending his spell with Al-Nasiriyah FC.

The 35-year-old centre-forward’s departure was recorded on 3 August 2026, bringing his time with the Iraqi club to a close. No transfer fee was recorded for the move.

Salami joined Al-Nasiriyah from Saudi Arabian side Ohod Club in January 2022. He has also played for Najran SC, Al-Faisaly and Al-Qaisumah during a career that has included spells in Saudi Arabia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Serbia and Nigeria.

The right-footed forward has scored 44 goals in 70 Nigerian Professional Football League appearances and 23 goals in 57 Veikkausliiga matches. He has also found the net in the CAF Confederation Cup and Suomen Cup.

Salami was the NPFL’s leading scorer in the 2014-15 season, when he scored 17 goals. Earlier in his career, he represented Shooting Stars and Enyimba Aba in Nigeria, as well as South African club Sundowns and Finland’s KuPS.

He now leaves Al-Nasiriyah and is officially without a club.
