Galatasaray linked with Celta Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba

Ilaix Moriba, the Guinean-Spanish central midfielder at Celta de Vigo, has been linked with a move to Galatasaray in Turkey’s Super Lig.

The 23-year-old joined Celta permanently from RB Leipzig on 1 July 2025 in a deal worth €6m, following a loan spell at the Spanish club during the 2024-25 season.

Moriba has featured in all three of Celta’s La Liga matches this season, playing 148 minutes without scoring or providing an assist. He is valued at €15m and remains under contract with the club until 30 June 2029.

The midfielder began his senior career with Barcelona, making the move to Leipzig in August 2021 for €16.6m. He subsequently spent time on loan at Valencia, Getafe and Celta before returning to the Vigo-based club on a permanent basis.

Moriba won the Spanish Cup with Barcelona in the 2020-21 season, while also claiming the Torneio Internacional Algarve with Spain Under-17s in 2020.

Galatasaray’s reported interest comes with Moriba established at Celta after a sequence of temporary moves away from Leipzig. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the proposed move remains a rumour. His current contract gives Celta a position of strength should negotiations develop.
