Al-Hilal are nearing an agreement to sign Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, with negotiations between the two clubs understood to have reached their final stage.
According to well-known transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Arabian club and Arsenal are working to settle the remaining details of a deal worth more than €65m. Arsenal have already agreed to sell the Brazil international, meaning the final decision now rests with Martinelli.
The proposed transfer has therefore moved beyond the stage of initial discussions, with the clubs focused on completing an agreement for the winger. While Arsenal have given permission for the sale to proceed, Martinelli must still decide whether he wants to leave the London club and join Al-Hilal.
Martinelli has been an Arsenal player since 2019. During that time, he has made 278 appearances for the club, scoring 62 goals and supplying 36 assists for his team-mates.
The winger’s current contract with the Gunners runs until the summer of next year. That remaining length of his agreement is part of the context surrounding the possible move, although Arsenal have accepted a deal worth above the €65m figure being discussed.
Martinelli’s estimated market value is €45m, meaning the proposed transfer fee is higher than that assessment. The figures being negotiated would make the move a significant transaction involving the Arsenal forward, should the player agree to the switch.
For now, the clubs have advanced their discussions and Arsenal’s position is clear: they have authorised Martinelli’s sale. The outstanding step is for the player himself to make a decision on his future before the transfer can be completed.
