Gabriel Martinelli has completed a permanent move from Arsenal to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, with the London club confirming the transfer on its official website.
The 25-year-old Brazil international joined Arsenal from Ituano in July 2019 and spent seven years with the club. During that time, Martinelli made 278 appearances in all competitions and scored 62 goals.
Arsenal did not disclose the transfer fee in its announcement, but Transfermarkt reported that the deal was worth €70m.
Martinelli leaves after helping Arsenal win the league title last season. He was also part of the side that won the FA Cup in 2020 and the FA Community Shield in 2023.
The forward’s departure brings an end to a seven-year spell in north London that began when he arrived from Brazilian club Ituano. His 278 appearances for Arsenal came across all competitions, while his 62 goals formed a significant part of his contribution to the club during that period.
Arsenal thanked Martinelli for his contribution to the club’s successes and wished him and his family all the best for the future.
Martinelli is also an established Brazil international, having represented his country 27 times. He won Olympic gold with Brazil, played at the 2024 Copa America and featured at the two most recent World Cups.
His move to Al-Hilal means the Saudi club have secured a player with experience at both domestic and international level. Martinelli’s Arsenal career included major honours in England, alongside his involvement with Brazil at some of the biggest tournaments in world football.
The transfer was formally confirmed by Arsenal, making Martinelli’s move to Al-Hilal permanent.
