Frenkie de Jong says he would understand if Barcelona’s Atletico Madrid game is postponed

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong says he would accept any decision to postpone the club’s upcoming La Liga match against Atletico Madrid.

A number of fixtures in Spanish football could be delayed following the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel, who died in hospital after a collision with Andorra’s goalkeeper during a Segunda match.

Asked whether Barcelona’s away fixture against Atletico should be rearranged, Netherlands international De Jong said the decision was not his to make.

“I will understand if it is postponed, but I will also understand if they decide to play it,” he said, according to Barca Universal.

Barcelona are scheduled to visit Atletico Madrid on 8 November.
