Flick says Barcelona captain Raphinha deeply affected by Tenerife player’s death

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick says captain Raphinha was particularly affected by the death of Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel.

The 30-year-old died in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a collision with Andorra’s goalkeeper during a Segunda match.

Raphinha scored twice as Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 at home in the Champions League on Tuesday. After the final whistle, the Brazil forward spoke emotionally about the tragedy.

Flick said the recent news had had a profound impact on Raphinha, who wore the Barcelona captain’s armband in the victory.
