Mamelodi Sundowns set a new scoring benchmark after 10 matches, while AmaZulu made their best-ever start under a coach as another significant weekend of Betway Premiership action produced several notable records.
Arthur Zwane also reached a club milestone with AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates manager Abdeslam Ouaddou recorded his 50th victory with a PSL club, and newly promoted Milford FC continued their impressive introduction to top-flight football.
Here are five figures that capture the weekend.
20 points from nine matches
Arthur Zwane has made the fastest start by an AmaZulu coach in PSL history, with the Durban club collecting 20 points from their opening nine matches of the 2026/27 campaign.
That surpasses Zwane’s own previous mark, when AmaZulu reached the same total after 12 games in the 2025/26 season.
The previous joint record stood at 14 matches, achieved by Clive Barker in 2008/09 and Craig Rosslee in 2013/14.
27 goals in 10 matches
Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have scored more goals after 10 games than any other team in PSL history.
Their total of 27 goals in the 2026/27 league campaign exceeds the previous record of 26, set by Kaizer Chiefs in 1996/97 and matched by Mamelodi Sundowns in 1999/00.
The tally reflects the attacking strength available to Masandawana and the difficulty their opponents have had in limiting them.
35 home league matches unbeaten
Mamelodi Sundowns have extended their unbeaten run in home league matches to 35 games.
Since May 2024, the Brazilians have won 32 and drawn three of those fixtures. Their overall home record since August 2022 is even stronger: 55 wins, eight draws and only one defeat from 64 league matches.
That sole loss came against Cape Town City in May 2024.
50 victories
Abdeslam Ouaddou marked a coaching milestone when Orlando Pirates defeated Kaizer Chiefs, taking his total to 50 wins in all competitions with PSL clubs.
The figure includes his time at both Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants, although most of the victories have come during his spell with the Soweto club.
Ouaddou has won 46 of his 62 matches in charge of Orlando Pirates, drawing 11 and losing five. His earlier period with Marumo Gallants brought four wins from 13 games.
Across both clubs, his South African record is 75 matches, 50 wins, 17 draws and eight defeats.
18 points from 10 matches
Milford FC are joint third on the historical list for the best start by a newly promoted side, having collected 18 points from their first 10 league matches.
They share that position with Free State Stars, who achieved the same total in 2007/08, and Richards Bay in 2022/23.
Only Swallows FC, with 22 points in 2020/21, and Bidvest Wits, with 19 in 2006/07, have made better starts among the teams on the list.
