Firaol Mengistu linked with Ethio Electric move from Sidama Bunna

Ethiopian left-back Firaol Mengistu is being linked with a move from Sidama Bunna to fellow Premier League club Ethio Electric.

The 27-year-old defender joined Sidama Bunna from Bahirdar Ketema on 1 September 2024 and has since established himself in the club’s squad. Mengistu has made 28 Premier League appearances, scoring once and providing four assists.

He has also featured four times in the CAF Confederation Cup, playing 325 minutes in the competition.

Mengistu’s reported potential move would keep him in Ethiopia’s top flight, with Ethio Electric identified as the club interested in signing him. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the move remains at the rumour stage.

The left-back began his senior career with Ethiopia Bunna before spells at Hadia Hosaina, Addis Ababa FC and Bahirdar Ketema. He moved to Sidama Bunna after two seasons with Bahirdar Ketema.

Mengistu’s current market value is listed at €50,000. He remains a Sidama Bunna player, with no confirmed transfer announced.
