Fiorentina are ready to make a strong push for Parma forward Mateo Pellegrino after Juventus moved away from a possible deal for the €30m-rated striker.
The Argentina centre-forward has been widely expected to leave Stadio Tardini during the summer transfer window, with Juventus previously viewed as his most likely destination. However, the Turin club’s recruitment plans have changed after they secured the arrivals of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayer Leverkusen prospect Kerim Alajbegovic.
Those transfers have reduced both the available funds and the space in Juventus’ squad for another attacking addition. The club are not currently in a position to move for Pellegrino unless they can first find a buyer for Jonathan David.
Juventus’ withdrawal has opened the door for Fiorentina, who have now entered the race for the striker. Sportitalia reports that discussions are advancing quickly, placing the Viola in a stronger position as they assess their options in attack.
Pellegrino’s potential availability has attracted interest from several clubs. Crystal Palace are also understood to be monitoring the 23-year-old closely, although Parma’s asking price has been set at €30m.
Parma, meanwhile, have already taken steps to prepare for the possibility of Pellegrino’s departure. The club have signed El Bilal Toure from Atalanta on loan, with an option to buy that could make the overall value of the agreement €11.5m.
Fiorentina are reportedly considering Pellegrino as a replacement for Roberto Piccoli, rather than for Moise Kean. Piccoli is attracting interest from Bologna, but that move depends on Bologna first finding a buyer for Thijs Dallinga.
The situation leaves Pellegrino’s future closely linked to developments elsewhere in the transfer market. Juventus’ decision to step back has allowed Fiorentina to make progress, while Parma have already secured a potential successor in Toure.
For now, the €30m valuation remains the key figure in any negotiations, with Fiorentina emerging as the club most actively pursuing the striker after Juventus’ change of direction.
