Fiorentina are set to complete their 11th signing of the summer when Pellegrino joins from Parma, underlining the scale of their rebuild as they aim to challenge for a Champions League place in Serie A.
The Viola will become the Italian top-flight club with the most arrivals during this transfer window, excluding newly promoted teams, once the Argentine forward’s move is completed.
Fiorentina began reshaping their squad on 8 June, when the club confirmed that former Italian left-back and Sassuolo coach Grosso had been appointed head coach. Grosso signed a contract running until June 2028.
Their first new player of the summer was Brazilian defender Vieri, who arrived from Gremio on 2 July for a reported fee of 17m euros.
Three days later, Tottenham defender Dragusin joined Fiorentina on loan. The agreement includes a conditional buy-out clause worth 25m euros.
The club then strengthened their midfield with the signing of French player Atta from Udinese on 12 July. The total fee for the transfer was reported to be 30m euros.
Fiorentina added further defensive cover on 16 July by bringing in Spanish defender Jimenez from Bournemouth on loan, with a 20m-euro option to buy.
Ivorian midfielder Oulahi followed on 20 July, completing a permanent move from Trabzonspor for a reported 30m euros.
On 1 August, Spanish defender Valdepenas joined from Real Madrid Castilla for 8m euros, with Real Madrid also retaining a 50% sell-on clause.
Fiorentina continued their recruitment four days later by signing Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario from Juventus on loan, with an option to buy included in the agreement.
Real Madrid forward Mastantono became the club’s ninth summer arrival on 7 August. The 18-year-old joined on a one-year loan without a buy-out clause.
Pellegrino is expected to become the 11th addition. According to Romano on 12 August, Fiorentina are close to completing the signing of the Argentine forward from Parma, with the transfer fee reportedly exceeding 20m euros.
The club had also secured the services of Brescianini and Fabian during the winter transfer window, and both midfielders have already joined their new team-mates in training.
The extensive recruitment follows a difficult campaign for Fiorentina. They began last season with a run of 15 Serie A matches without a win, a sequence that left them at the bottom of the table.
They eventually avoided relegation by collecting 42 points and finished 15th in the league. With the summer transfer window still open, Fiorentina have already made double-digit additions as they seek a significant improvement and a possible push towards Champions League qualification.
The scale of the spending and squad changes means further activity remains possible before the deadline, with the Viola expected to consider whether more major moves are required.
