Fermin Lopez recorded a direct goal contribution for the third consecutive Champions League match as Barcelona defeated Aston Villa 3-0 at home in the fourth round of the group stage.
The 23-year-old Spanish midfielder set up Barcelona’s second goal in the 52nd minute, threading a pass through to Raphinha. The Brazilian finished with a low shot from inside the penalty area, which took a deflection before finding the net and increasing the hosts’ advantage.
Fermin had already scored in Barcelona’s 4-1 away victory over Galatasaray, converting after an assist from Yamal. He then came off the bench in the away match against Paris Saint-Germain and supplied the pass for Xavi Espart’s equaliser.
His latest assist means Fermin has registered one goal and two assists across his past three Champions League appearances, contributing directly to three goals.
A graduate of La Masia, Barcelona’s academy, Fermin has become an important part of Flick’s tactical setup, with his relentless running and instinct to move forward adding energy to the team.
