Fenerbahce presidential candidate pledges move for Salah

Mohamed Salah has become the centre of a high-profile promise in the race for the presidency of Fenerbahçe S.K., after candidate Hakan Savi reportedly vowed to bring the Egyptian forward to the Turkish club.

The proposal forms part of Savi’s election campaign ahead of presidential elections scheduled for early July, with the businessman aiming to convince supporters that he can restore Fenerbahce to the top of Turkish football after years without a league title.

According to Turkish outlet TGRT Haber, Savi has prepared what would become the largest financial offer in the club’s history in an effort to secure Salah’s signature. The proposed deal is said to include a net annual salary of 20 million euros.

Salah’s future has become one of the most discussed topics in football following confirmation that the 33-year-old will leave Liverpool F.C. at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The Egyptian has enjoyed a remarkable spell at Anfield since arriving in 2017, scoring 257 goals and producing 122 assists across 440 appearances in all competitions. His time at Liverpool is widely regarded as one of the most successful periods of his career.

Despite confirmation of his departure, Salah’s next destination remains uncertain. Reports in recent months have linked him with possible moves to leagues in Saudi Arabia and the United States, while Turkish media claims suggest Fenerbahce are determined to complete a deal before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The race for the Fenerbahce presidency has intensified between Savi and former club chief Aziz Yildirim. Both candidates have made ambitious promises to supporters, including plans to attract internationally recognised players in a bid to restore the Istanbul club’s status domestically and in Europe.

Turkish media reports also stated that Savi recently held talks with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, during which he reportedly expressed a clear determination to sign the Egypt captain and indicated a willingness to meet the financial demands involved in the transfer.

Fenerbahce’s lengthy wait for domestic success has increased pressure on whoever wins the upcoming election. The club last lifted the Turkish league title in 2014, while rivals Galatasaray S.K. have dominated the competition in recent years with seven championships. Beşiktaş J.K. have claimed three titles during the same period, while Trabzonspor and İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. have each won the league once.

Savi reportedly views Salah as the central figure in a broader rebuilding strategy designed to return Fenerbahce to the summit of Turkish football and establish the club as a stronger force in the UEFA Champions League.

One factor potentially working in Fenerbahce’s favour is Salah’s expected availability as a free agent. Reports indicate that his exit from Liverpool will allow him to leave without a transfer fee, meaning the Turkish side would only need to negotiate personal terms and salary arrangements should talks progress further.

While no agreement has yet been announced, the prospect of Salah moving to Turkey has already added a new dimension to Fenerbahce’s presidential race and intensified speculation surrounding the next chapter of one of world football’s biggest stars.
