The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) has completed the composition of its Electoral Commission and Appeals Commission after delegates unanimously approved both bodies during an Extraordinary General Assembly in Brazzaville.
The decision marks another step in the federation’s electoral process, with the newly approved commissions now expected to oversee future elections and key governance procedures within Congolese football.
The meeting, held on Thursday, 30 July, brought together senior football officials and institutional representatives, highlighting the importance attached to strengthening governance and ensuring transparency ahead of the federation’s upcoming electoral milestones.
The Extraordinary General Assembly was chaired by FECOFOOT First Vice-President Henry Endzanga and attended by representatives from FIFA, the Congolese government and the country’s Olympic movement.
Among those present were Franciny Samba, representing FIFA, Brice Merlin Lepebe from the Ministry of Sports, and Alain Nzaba on behalf of the Congolese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC).
The participation of representatives from both international and national institutions reflected the significance of the meeting as FECOFOOT continues efforts to complete its electoral framework.
The General Assembly focused on a single agenda item: finalising the membership of the Electoral Commission and the Appeals Commission.
According to the federation, the objective was to provide a clear roadmap for the next phase of the electoral process while ensuring that the two independent bodies are fully equipped to perform their responsibilities.
Delegates discussed the proposed composition of both commissions before unanimously approving the final list in accordance with the federation’s regulations and established procedures.
The approval formally completes the establishment of the two structures, allowing them to begin exercising their respective mandates.
FECOFOOT considers the commissions central to guaranteeing an electoral process that is transparent, credible and conducted in line with its governing rules.
The Electoral Commission will oversee the organisation and administration of the federation’s electoral process, while the Appeals Commission will be responsible for handling any disputes or challenges arising from that process.
The federation said completing the two bodies was necessary to ensure that future electoral deadlines are managed fairly and efficiently.
The General Assembly also reinforced the federation’s commitment to following recognised governance procedures.
By securing unanimous backing from delegates, FECOFOOT has moved closer to completing an electoral process that it hopes will provide stability for football administration in the Republic of Congo.
With both bodies now formally constituted, attention is expected to shift towards implementing the next phases of the federation’s electoral calendar.
The commissions are now empowered to carry out their responsibilities as the federation prepares for its upcoming electoral deadlines, with FECOFOOT aiming to ensure that the process is conducted in a transparent, impartial and orderly manner.
