FC Lorient have extended Mamadou Kone’s contract until June 2030, rewarding the 19-year-old striker after his breakthrough into the first team.
The Ivory Coast forward joined Les Merlus in September 2025 from Academie Africa Foot in Mali and has made six appearances in Ligue 1 McDonald’s this season.
Kone scored his first top-flight goal in FC Lorient’s 1-0 win against RC Lens at stade Bollaert, producing the decisive moment in a closely contested match.
His progress had already been highlighted by his performances for the club’s reserve side. During the previous season, Kone scored nine goals in 24 National 1 appearances, underlining his attacking contribution as he moved closer to senior football.
The new deal represents a long-term commitment from the Breton club to one of its emerging talents. Kone’s current value is estimated at 2 million euros by Transfermarkt.
At 19, he now has the security of a contract lasting through to 2030 as he continues his development within the FC Lorient squad.
FC Lorient’s next fixture is against AS Monaco in the seventh round of the French championship.
