Ezri Konsa has signed a contract with Arsenal after agreeing a move from Aston Villa, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The England international central defender is now set to become an Arsenal player, with an official announcement from the London club expected soon. Konsa’s agreement with Arsenal marks the next stage of a spell at Aston Villa that began in 2019.
Romano reported that the defender had already completed the contractual part of the transfer by putting pen to paper with his new club. The deal is therefore understood to be at an advanced stage, with confirmation from Arsenal anticipated in the near future.
Media reports previously indicated that Arsenal would pay 60m euros for Konsa. That figure does not include potential bonuses attached to the move.
Konsa joined Aston Villa from Brentford in 2019 and has spent the period since then with the Birmingham club. During his time at Villa, he made 286 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists.
His departure will bring an end to a lengthy association with Aston Villa, while his arrival gives Arsenal a new central defensive option. Konsa’s move comes after several seasons in which he established himself as an important member of the Villa squad.
Although the transfer has not yet been formally announced by Arsenal, Romano’s report says the player has already signed his contract. The club’s official confirmation is now expected to complete the process publicly.
The reported fee underlines the significance of the move, with Arsenal agreeing to pay 60m euros before any additional bonuses are taken into account. Konsa’s record of 286 matches for Aston Villa provides the main statistical background to his spell at the club.
He joined Villa after leaving Brentford in 2019 and remained with the Birmingham side until his move to London. Across those appearances, the defender contributed 12 goals and four assists.
Konsa will now continue his career with Arsenal, following the completion of the contractual agreement reported by Fabrizio Romano. The London club has yet to make its official announcement, but the defender’s signing means the transfer is expected to be confirmed shortly.
