The eThekwini municipality says it is prepared to deliver a safe and well-co-ordinated MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in Durban on Saturday, despite continued anti-immigration protests in the city centre.
The match, which kicks off at 6pm at Moses Mabhida Stadium, is sold out. However, there are concerns that the unrest could affect the eagerly anticipated meeting between the Buccaneers and the Brazilians.

The municipality said it had activated a comprehensive operational plan covering traffic management, public safety and crowd control in and around the stadium precinct.
It added that the plan was intended to ensure the final was safe, vibrant and well organised, with Durban metro police working closely with the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The two law-enforcement agencies will be responsible for safeguarding supporters, residents and visitors throughout the event.
Parking for match-goers will be available at Mastering Field, Suncoast Casino and in designated on-street areas along Umgeni Road. A separate drop-off zone has also been established on Umgeni Road.
