Elye Wahi returns to OGC Nice on season-long loan from Eintracht Frankfurt

Elye Wahi has completed his return to OGC Nice on a season-long loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the deal including an option to buy for €15m. The move was officially announced by the French club on its social media channels.

The 23-year-old centre-forward returns to the Cote d’Azur after an impressive end to last season with the Aiglons. Wahi had made clear his desire to continue in southern France after enjoying his first spell at the club, and will now have another opportunity to establish himself at Nice.

During his previous stint, Wahi played 19 matches and accumulated 1,332 minutes on the pitch. He scored nine goals, including five in Ligue 1, and also provided two assists.

His contribution was particularly valuable during a difficult campaign for OGC Nice in terms of results. The former Montpellier, Lens and Marseille player repeatedly delivered in important matches, with his performances in the Coupe de France standing out.

On 22 April, Wahi scored twice in a 2-0 victory away to Strasbourg. His goals helped Nice secure their place in the final of the competition. He made another decisive impact several weeks later in the second leg of the play-off against AS Saint-Etienne.

Wahi scored two more goals as Nice won that match 4-1 on 29 May. His contribution played a significant part in helping the club retain its place in the top flight.

The new loan gives Wahi another season to build on the promise he showed during his initial spell. Should he continue to produce at crucial moments, OGC Nice will have the option to make his move permanent for €15m and keep him on the Cote d’Azur beyond the current campaign.

For Nice, the return represents a major attacking reinforcement and another chance to rely on a forward who proved capable of influencing matches when the team needed him most.

Wahi remains under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2030. He is currently valued at €18m by Transfermarkt and earns an annual salary of €3,770,000 in Germany, equivalent to 2,450,500,000 FCFA.

OGC Nice’s next fixture will be against Paris FC in the second matchday of the French league season. The betting company 1xbet lists Nice at odds of 3.20 to win, with a draw priced at 3.30 and a Paris FC victory at 2.10.
