South African winger Elias Mokwana is being linked with a move from Esperance Tunis to Algerian side JS Kabylie, with the 26-year-old reportedly attracting interest despite having a year left on his contract with the Tunisian champions.
Mokwana is under contract at Esperance until 30 June 2027, meaning JS Kabylie would need to negotiate a fee with the Tunis-based club if they decide to formalise their interest. The right-sided attacker currently has a market valuation of around €600,000, providing a reference point for any potential talks.
The former Sekhukhune and Al-Hazem player rejoined Esperance this summer after a season-long loan spell in the Saudi Pro League, where he made 24 league appearances. He originally moved to Tunisia in August 2024 from South African side Sekhukhune for a reported €370,000 fee, as Esperance looked to reinforce their attacking options on the right flank.
Since arriving in North Africa, Mokwana has gained experience in continental competition, featuring in the CAF Champions League as well as at the Club World Cup, and was part of the Esperance side that went on to win the Tunisian league title in the 2024-25 campaign.
The right-footed winger has also built a solid record in domestic top-flight football, notably registering over 50 appearances in South Africa’s Betway Premiership before moving abroad. His performances across different leagues in Africa and the Middle East are understood to have caught the attention of JS Kabylie as they assess options to strengthen their wide areas.
For now, Mokwana remains an Esperance player heading into the new season, with his contractual situation giving the Tunisian club a strong position should JS Kabylie decide to test their resolve.
