Egyptian star Ibrahim Adel seals long-term deal in Denmark

Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland have confirmed the permanent signing of Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel after activating a purchase option in his loan agreement from Al Jazira Club.

The 25-year-old, who initially joined on loan until the end of the current season, has now signed a contract that will keep him at the Danish side until the summer of 2029, marking a significant long-term commitment from the club.

The decision follows a short but impactful loan spell during which Adel quickly integrated into the squad and impressed the club’s technical staff with his performances and adaptability.

Nordsjælland’s sporting director, Alexander Rigett, explained that the club had been monitoring the player for some time before the opportunity arose to bring him in during the winter transfer window.

He told the club’s official website: “We have been following Ibrahim Adel for many years, so when the opportunity arose this winter to sign him on loan until the end of the season, we did not hesitate to seize it.”

Rigett added that the loan period provided a valuable opportunity for both player and club to assess compatibility before committing to a permanent deal.

“This gave both parties the opportunity to get to know each other and we were completely satisfied with what we saw, so we have now activated the purchase clause that was part of the agreement with Al Jazeera.”

Adel’s early performances in Denmark included ten appearances in which he scored two goals and provided one assist. Among his notable contributions were decisive goals against Sønderjyske and Brøndby, which helped underline his growing influence within the squad.

“He performed well and was even decisive for us by scoring two goals against both Sonnejoske and Brøndby.”

The sporting director further praised the Egyptian international’s work ethic, attitude and suitability for the club’s playing philosophy, while also outlining ambitions for his future development within the team.

“He is a hardworking and focused player who is very popular with the team, and he fits perfectly with our style of play and values, so it made perfect sense for us to make a permanent agreement with him. We will continue to work on developing Ibrahim Adel and we aspire for him to become a key and influential player in our team, in addition to being a shining star in the Danish league.”

He also highlighted the broader significance of the signing, noting Adel’s expected involvement with the Egyptian national team and the club’s growing links with Egyptian football development pathways.

“We are also delighted to sign a long-term agreement with a talented player who will be joining the Egyptian national team for the World Cup. This strengthens our relationship with Egypt, a country with a long history in football, and this is very important, as it will attract more Egyptian players to Nordsjælland thanks to our close association with the ‘Right to Dream’ academy in Egypt, where rising talents emerge.”

For Adel, the move represents stability and continuity after a positive introduction to Danish football. The winger expressed satisfaction with his early months at the club and outlined his ambitions for the coming seasons.

“I am very happy to sign a final contract with Nordsjælland. I thoroughly enjoyed my first period here.”

“I felt at home from day one. The players and coaching staff gave me a warm welcome and everyone helped me adapt and integrate into the team. I am very grateful for that.”

He also acknowledged the competitive nature of the Danish league and said it had been an important step in his development.

“It was very exciting to get acquainted with the Danish league and it was full of challenges due to the high level of competition.”

Looking ahead, Adel says his focus is on helping Nordsjælland achieve European qualification and competing for domestic honours in the coming years as he settles into a long-term role at the club.
