Egypt international Hamza Abdel Karim scored his first goal for Barcelona’s senior team after finding the net in the club’s pre-season friendly against Birmingham City.
The young striker converted a penalty in the 42nd minute after being brought down by a Birmingham defender, marking his maiden goal for the Catalan giants’ first team.
The strike came in only his second senior appearance for Barcelona, having made his debut in the club’s previous pre-season friendly, where Hansi Flick’s side secured a 4-1 victory.
Abdel Karim’s latest performance continues an encouraging pre-season as he looks to convince Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick that he deserves a place in the senior squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
The German coach included the Egyptian forward in the club’s pre-season training camp to assess whether he should remain with the first team or return to Barcelona Atlètic for further development.
Abdel Karim joined Barcelona from Egyptian giants Al Ahly on loan in January before impressing with the club’s youth setup. His performances persuaded the Spanish champions to make the move permanent.
His first senior goal will further strengthen his case as he battles for a place in Barcelona’s plans ahead of the new season.
