Egypt will open their 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with back-to-back matches against Angola and South Sudan as the Pharaohs begin a busy September international window.
The Egyptian Football Association’s technical staff has confirmed that Egypt will host Angola at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, September 25, with kick-off scheduled for 10:00pm Cairo time.
The Pharaohs will then travel to Juba four days later to face South Sudan in their second qualifying fixture on Monday, September 29. The match is scheduled for 3:00pm Cairo time.
The quick turnaround will give Egypt little time between their opening two qualifiers, with the team moving from a home fixture in Cairo to an away assignment in South Sudan.
Egypt will also face South Africa in a friendly on October 4 following the two qualifiers. The match is expected to provide the technical staff with another opportunity to assess the squad and give players additional international exposure.
The squad selected for the September window includes four goalkeepers: Mostafa Shobeir, El Mahdy Soliman, Mohamed Alaa and Abdel Aziz El Balouty.
The defensive options are Mohamed Hany, Tarek Alaa, Rami Rabia, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Hossam Abdelmaguid, Omar Fattah, Ahmed Fattouh and Karim Hafez.
In midfield, Egypt have Marwan Attia, Mohand Lasheen, Mahmoud Saber, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ali Mahmoud, Ibrahim Adel, Mostafa Ziko, Haitham Hassan and Mohamed Salah.
Omar Marmoush and Hamza Abdelkarim complete the squad’s attacking options.
Egypt will therefore face a demanding start to their qualifying campaign, with the opening two fixtures coming within four days before the Pharaohs turn their attention to the South Africa friendly.
