Egypt and Algeria will face each other on Wednesday, 21 October for third place at the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, after both were beaten in the semi-finals.
The Pharaons lost 6-0 to hosts Morocco, while Algeria surrendered a two-goal lead in a 3-2 defeat by Angola. Both sides will now look to finish the tournament with a place on the podium.
The match will be played at Salle Moulay-Abdellah in Rabat on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, according to the competition’s official schedule.
Kick-off is at 17:00 local time in Morocco. The timing is affected by the difference between the two countries: Morocco returned permanently to GMT (UTC+0) on 20 September 2026, while Algeria remains on GMT+1.
The game will therefore start at 18:00 in Algeria, 19:00 in France and 20:00 in Egypt.
As with all 16 matches at the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, the third-place play-off will be available to watch for free on CAF TV, the Confederation of African Football’s official YouTube channel.
Moroccan broadcaster Arryadia is also expected to show the match, having carried the other games in the tournament.
Algeria seeking historic finish
Algeria have already made history in their first appearance at the competition. The Fennecs progressed from the group stage and reached the semi-finals, but they will regret failing to hold on against Angola.
They led 2-0 before Angola fought back to win 3-2, denying Algeria a first appearance in a continental final.
Algeria had secured qualification from Group A behind Morocco. Egypt, meanwhile, finished second in Group B behind Angola before suffering a heavy semi-final defeat against the hosts.
For Egypt, the loss was particularly painful. The three-time African champions were overwhelmed by a Morocco side that proved clearly superior throughout the match.
The Pharaons are now competing for a response and a place among the tournament’s top three, while Algeria can complete an already successful campaign by claiming a medal in their debut appearance.
The third-place match therefore carries different significance for the two teams. Egypt, one of African futsal’s traditional powers, will aim to restore pride after their semi-final setback, whereas Algeria will attempt to give their historic run a tangible reward.
Both sides have fallen short of the final, but a victory in Rabat would allow them to end the competition on a positive note.
