Dog runs onto pitch during Al Ahly Bank’s draw with Al Masry

A dog briefly interrupted the Egyptian Premier League match between Al Ahly Bank and Al Masry Port Said after running onto the pitch in the 84th minute of their 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

The unexpected visitor appeared while an Al Ahly Bank player was in possession of the ball, creating an unusual moment late in the game. The dog ran across the field before leaving less than 30 seconds later, without requiring any intervention from the players.

The incident attracted attention among spectators and brought smiles to Al Masry supporters in the stands, providing a light-hearted moment during a match that ended with both sides scoring from the penalty spot.

The referee resumed play after the dog had left the pitch, returning possession to Al Ahly Bank.

Dog steals the spotlight in the closing stages

The incident occurred with the score level at 1-1 and only a few minutes of normal time remaining. The dog entered the playing area unexpectedly and moved quickly across the pitch, briefly diverting attention away from the action.

Neither team appeared to need to intervene before the animal made its way off the field. The interruption was short-lived, and the match continued after the referee restored play.

Although the encounter was part of the Egyptian Premier League campaign, the unusual scene became one of its most memorable moments. The presence of the dog offered a brief distraction for supporters as the two teams continued their efforts to find a winning goal.

The match ultimately ended in a draw, with both sides having converted penalties to score.

Al Masry continue winless run

Away from the unusual incident, the result extended Al Masry’s difficult spell in the league. The Port Said club moved to nine points, leaving them 11th in the standings, but were unable to end a run of six consecutive matches without a victory.

Al Ahly Bank, meanwhile, took their points tally to 11 and moved into eighth place.

Al Masry’s recent struggles have followed a promising start to the campaign. The club dismissed coach Emad Al Nahhas after the defeat by Pyramids in the third round, despite having won their opening two matches under his leadership.

The team’s form subsequently deteriorated, with Al Masry unable to return to winning ways. Their results during that period included two draws and three defeats, contributing to the decision to part ways with Al Nahhas.

The draw against Al Ahly Bank therefore offered no breakthrough in the club’s search for a victory, leaving them to continue their efforts to improve their league position.

For Al Ahly Bank, the point helped them maintain a place in the top half of the table, while the match will also be remembered for the brief pitch invasion that interrupted the action late in the second half.
