De Zerbi says Tottenham defender Tosin Adarabioyo deserves to play

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi says defender Tosin Adarabioyo “deserves to play” after handing him his first start of the season in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Coventry.

Adarabioyo was named in the starting XI for the first time in Tottenham’s seventh-round match of the campaign. He had made two previous appearances this season across all competitions but had not started either game.

The defender has played in three matches in total this season and has yet to register a goal or assist.

De Zerbi also highlighted the form of Senesi, who he said produced a “very good” performance in the previous round against Manchester United, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tottenham’s win over Coventry was only their second victory of the Premier League season. After seven rounds, they sit 16th in the table with six points.
