Lazio have reached an oral agreement with Inter for the transfer of Italy midfielder Davide Frattesi, with the move set to begin as a loan deal.
The Roman club will pay €1m to take Frattesi on loan, according to respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. The proposed agreement also includes an option for Lazio to make the move permanent for €14m.
That option will become an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met. The specific conditions have not been disclosed, but the structure of the deal means Frattesi could move permanently to Lazio once the agreed requirements are fulfilled.
Frattesi has already agreed personal terms with Lazio, removing a further potential obstacle to the transfer. The deal between the two clubs is currently described as an oral agreement, rather than a completed transfer.
The 26-year-old central midfielder has been an Inter player since 2024. His current contract with the Milan club runs until 2028, while his estimated market value is €22m.
The proposed €14m fee for a permanent transfer is therefore below the player’s stated valuation. However, the final cost of the move could depend on whether the conditions attached to the purchase obligation are met.
Frattesi’s next step is expected to be a switch from Inter to Lazio, initially on loan. Lazio would then have the opportunity to secure his registration permanently, unless the agreed conditions automatically trigger the obligation to buy.
The midfielder’s agreement to join Lazio is a significant part of the developing deal, while discussions between the clubs have established the financial framework for the transfer. Inter would receive €1m for the loan, with a further €14m potentially due if the permanent move is completed.
Frattesi remains under contract with Inter until 2028, but the agreement with Lazio would provide a route for the player to leave the club after two years in Milan. The transfer has not yet been presented as fully completed, with the current information confirming an oral agreement between the clubs and an agreement with the player over his move.
The report was published by Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Lazio had negotiated the loan arrangement with Inter and that the deal included the conditional purchase clause. Further progress would be required before the transfer could be formally concluded.
