Former Juventus chief executive Damien Comolli has taken charge of Serie B club Pisa as president and chief executive on an initial three-year contract.
The Frenchman will also become a member of the club’s board after replacing Giuseppe and Giovanni Corrado, who have overseen Pisa for the past decade.
Pisa’s majority shareholder Alexander Knaster said Comolli’s appointment marked the beginning of a “new phase of growth and development” for the club.
“After several seasons in which we have seen significant improvements in every area of the club, I believe the time has come for Pisa SC to enter a new phase of growth and development,” Knaster said in a statement.
“I’m convinced this can happen under Damien’s leadership. He brings great experience and a deep knowledge of football, both on and off the pitch.”
Comolli left Juventus on 12 June after one year in Turin. He joined the club as general director in June 2025 and became chief executive in November of that year, succeeding Maurizio Scanavino.
His time at Juventus was affected by a disappointing transfer campaign, disagreements with Luciano Spalletti and the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. Juventus have since appointed Giovanni Carnevali.
The 53-year-old has also held senior positions at Tottenham and Liverpool. He previously served as president of Toulouse.
Comolli said he was pleased to begin his new role and highlighted Pisa’s plans to improve its infrastructure.
“I’m very happy to join Pisa SC as president and CEO,” he said. “Under Alexander Knaster’s ownership, the club has made truly significant progress.
“It’s an exciting club to join, with major potential for growth, starting with its organisation and the construction of a new, state-of-the-art training centre. Forza Pisa!”
Knaster also praised the departing Corrados, describing them as having been “the heart and soul of Pisa SC over the last ten years”.
The brothers said their decade-long association with the club would remain an important part of their lives.
“Ten years represent an era,” they said. “Pisa Sporting Club will always remain a fundamental part of our lives.”
