Crystal Palace have no immediate plans to remove manager Pierre Sage, despite their heavy defeat by Brighton, and are prepared to give the Frenchman time to improve results.
The club’s position, reported by The Athletic, could change depending on the outcome of the team’s next matches. Chairman Steve Parish is willing to intervene if there is no sign of progress, with another defeat in Turkey on Thursday likely to intensify discussions among senior officials.
Sage will work with Crystal Palace’s sporting department to review the defensive problems highlighted in the Brighton loss. His options have also been restricted by injuries to Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Axel Disasi is unavailable through suspension.
The 47-year-old replaced Frank Glasner in June. After the defeat by Brighton, Sage acknowledged that he was uncertain whether he could reverse the team’s fortunes.
For now, Crystal Palace favour continuity rather than an immediate managerial change. The coming fixtures, however, are expected to play a decisive role in determining whether Sage retains the club’s backing.
