Cesc Fabregas has been named the best coach in Serie A for the 2025-26 season after guiding Como to a historic fourth-place finish and their first qualification for the Champions League.
The award was announced by the Italian Footballers’ Association, which confirmed that the 39-year-old Spanish manager had been recognised for Como’s outstanding campaign in Italy’s top flight.
Fabregas has been in charge of Como since 2024. Under his leadership, the club achieved the most successful league finish in its history during the 2025-26 Serie A season.
Como collected 71 points from their 38 matches and ended the campaign in fourth position. That result secured the club’s first-ever place in the Champions League, marking a major milestone for a side that had never previously reached Europe’s leading club competition.
The fourth-place finish also brought recognition for Fabregas, who has overseen Como’s progress since taking up the managerial role. His team’s total of 71 points was enough to secure a position among Serie A’s leading clubs at the end of the season.
Como’s strong run has continued into the new Serie A campaign, although the club currently sit eighth in the table. They have taken four points from their opening two matches.
Their next league fixture will be away to Genoa on 4 September. The third-round match is scheduled to begin at 21:45 Moscow time.
Fabregas, a former Spain international and midfielder, remains responsible for Como as they begin a season shaped by the achievement of Champions League qualification. The award from the Italian Footballers’ Association comes after the club completed its record league campaign and established itself among the top four teams in Serie A.
Como’s fourth-place finish was the defining result of the 2025-26 season for the club. Across 38 rounds, the team accumulated 71 points, a tally that opened the way to the Champions League for the first time in its history.
The club now enters its new domestic campaign with four points from two games and occupies eighth place in the Serie A standings. Its immediate opportunity to add to that total comes against Genoa, with the fixture set to take place on 4 September.
