English-Nigerian midfielder Moses Sesay has joined Colchester United from Southampton Under-21s on loan for the 2026-27 season.
The 19-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 21 August and will spend the campaign with the League Two club, leaving Southampton’s Premier League 2 side for a senior spell in the English Football League. The loan is scheduled to run until 31 May 2027, when Sesay is due to return to Southampton Under-21s.
Sesay is a left-footed midfielder who has represented both England and Nigeria through his nationality. He was born on 5 January 2007 and has played primarily in central midfield during his development.
The move takes Sesay to Colchester after he progressed into Southampton’s Under-21 setup last season. He joined the group from Southampton Under-18s on 1 July 2025, having previously been part of the Chelsea youth system.
Sesay’s move from Chelsea to Southampton Under-18s was completed as a free transfer in July 2023. Three years later, his temporary switch to Colchester provides the next stage of his club career, with the player moving from Southampton’s development structure into League Two football.
Colchester compete in England’s fourth tier and have added Sesay to their midfield options for the current campaign. His arrival is the latest step in a progression that has taken him from youth football at Chelsea to Southampton’s academy and then to the club’s Under-21 side.
The transfer was completed as a loan, with no permanent fee recorded for the move. Sesay is contracted to remain with Southampton Under-21s beyond the Colchester spell, and the planned end of the loan is 31 May 2027.
