Chelsea have ended uncertainty surrounding Nicolas Jackson’s future by confirming that the Senegal striker will remain part of their squad for the upcoming season.
The decision comes after new head coach Xabi Alonso made it clear that Jackson features in his plans, ending speculation that the forward could leave Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
Alonso confirmed that Jackson will join Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Asia once he completes his holiday following Senegal’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Spanish manager said: “Nico Jackson will join the team for the tour in Asia and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Jackson is expected to link up with his Chelsea team-mates as Alonso begins preparations for the new campaign and evaluates his squad options.
The Senegal international returns to Chelsea after spending the previous season on loan at Bayern Munich. However, the German club decided against activating the option to make the move permanent, leaving Jackson to return to Stamford Bridge.
His return presents the striker with an opportunity to impress Alonso and secure a place in the manager’s plans.
Chelsea’s decision to retain Jackson means the forward will now compete for a position in a highly competitive attacking department. The Senegal striker faces a battle for regular playing time, with João Pedro, Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha and young Spanish forward Marc Guiu also competing for opportunities.
Despite the competition, Jackson remains under contract with Chelsea until June 2033, giving him significant time to establish himself at the club.
The striker’s future had been the subject of discussion during the transfer period, but Alonso’s comments have provided clarity over Chelsea’s intentions.
By including Jackson in the pre-season tour plans, the club has signalled that the forward will be given the chance to prove his value under the new coaching regime.
Jackson joined Chelsea’s preparations after a season in which his future appeared uncertain. His loan move to Bayern Munich had created the possibility of a permanent transfer, but that option was not taken up by the German side.
Now back with the Blues, the Senegal attacker will look to impress Alonso and earn a place among the manager’s preferred attacking options.
The upcoming pre-season tour in Asia will be an important period for Jackson as he attempts to adapt to Alonso’s methods and demonstrate why Chelsea continue to see value in him.
With several attacking players competing for positions, the Senegal international will need to show consistency and make the most of the opportunities available to him.
Chelsea’s confirmation brings an end to months of uncertainty over Jackson’s next step, with the club choosing to keep him as part of their plans rather than pursue a summer departure.
For Jackson, the focus now turns to pre-season and the challenge of convincing Alonso that he can play a significant role in Chelsea’s ambitions for the new season.
