Chad is set to formalise a strategic partnership with Spanish football league LaLiga as part of a plan to develop a more sustainable sports system across the country.
The agreement between Chad’s Ministry of Sports and the Chadian Football Federation and LaLiga is expected to focus on several areas of football development, including the training of local coaches, improvements to the national league and the identification of young talent across the country.
A central element of the proposed partnership will be a nationwide talent scouting programme.
Large-scale scouting campaigns are planned across all of Chad’s provinces, with the aim of creating wider opportunities for talented players to be identified and developed.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to establish stronger structures for sport in Chad, extending beyond the development of players and teams.
Under the partnership, the modernisation of the national league will be a key priority. The project also places emphasis on developing the skills of coaches working within the country, with ongoing training intended to strengthen the local football environment.
The agreement will also have an educational and professional development component through the involvement of the LaLiga Business School.
The school is expected to contribute to the training of sports executives, preparing them for careers in the business side of the sports industry.
The programme is also intended to support footballers approaching the end of their playing careers.
Both male and female players nearing retirement will be offered concrete opportunities to move into new careers, giving them a pathway into professional roles away from the pitch.
The inclusion of this academic element reflects the wider ambition of the partnership to develop people who can contribute to the sports industry in a range of roles.
For Chad, the planned agreement represents an attempt to create a more structured and sustainable foundation for sport rather than focusing solely on sporting performance.
The partnership brings together the country’s Ministry of Sports and football federation with one of Europe’s most prominent football league organisations, with activities spanning player development, coaching, league organisation and sports business education.
The proposed talent searches across Chad’s provinces could also broaden the pool of players available for development by giving scouting activities a nationwide reach.
At the same time, training for coaches and executives is intended to build expertise within the country, while the modernisation of the national league is designed to strengthen domestic football structures.
The initiative therefore combines development on the field with education and career preparation away from it.
Chad’s wider objective is to establish a sustainable sports industry capable of supporting a new generation of athletes as well as sports leaders.
The partnership is ultimately intended to help create pathways for both players and professionals and to provide a stronger foundation for Chad’s ambitions to take its sporting talent and leadership onto the international stage.
