Dani Ceballos’ proposed return to Real Betis remains on hold, with his agent negotiating with two other clubs as the Spanish side works to create the financial space needed to complete a deal.
According to AS, Ceballos’ representatives are conducting talks with two clubs in addition to their discussions with Betis. The situation has prompted Betis to ask the player’s agency team to notify them before reaching an agreement elsewhere, allowing the club an opportunity to respond.
The transfer has yet to make significant progress because Betis must first sell players and free room within its wage budget. Until that happens, the club is unlikely to be able to move decisively for Ceballos.
Betis’ immediate priority is to sign a forward. The club intends to focus fully on bringing in Ceballos only after that recruitment target has been addressed.
At the same time, Ceballos’ newly appointed agency team is continuing to assess the market. Its aim is to ensure the midfielder has a club to join after the transfer window closes if a return to Betis cannot be completed.
Despite the lack of movement and the growing pressure of the deadline, Betis retains a significant advantage because Ceballos is very keen to return to the club.
However, Betis’ plans to reduce its squad and wage commitments have been disrupted. De La Hoz was expected to leave before the end of the financial year on 30 June, but he remains at the club. Lo Celso, meanwhile, has made it clear that he is unwilling to consider offers.
There is also increasing opposition to Lo Celso. His limited playing time at the World Cup, together with his late return to the team, means he has not yet taken part in team training.
Those circumstances have made it more difficult for Betis to complete the departures required to create space for Ceballos. As a result, the club must balance its desire to bring back a player eager to return with the need to resolve its squad situation first.
Sevilla PTV also reports that Ceballos’ agent is pursuing two negotiations simultaneously alongside the Betis talks. That development gives the player alternative options while Betis continues to work on its finances and transfer priorities.
For now, Ceballos’ return remains possible but uncertain. Betis will need to accelerate its player clear-out and make progress with its plans for a forward if it is to prevent the midfielder from agreeing terms with one of the other clubs involved in negotiations.
