Carteron under pressure as Wydad weigh coaching change

Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly considering parting ways with head coach Patrice Carteron just weeks after his return to the club.

Carteron was reappointed to stabilise the team following the dismissal of Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who was sacked after Wydad’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup against Olympique Club de Safi.

Results Fail to Improve

Since his return, Carteron has struggled to turn things around. Wydad have lost to Fath Union Sport and Maghreb de Fès, while only managing a draw against Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.

The run of results has fallen well below expectations for a club of Wydad’s stature, increasing pressure on the French tactician.

Club Hierarchy Growing Impatient

Reports indicate growing frustration within the club’s leadership, with Carteron’s future now hanging by a thread.

Sources suggest that any further slip-up in the upcoming fixtures could lead to his immediate dismissal, underlining the urgency of the situation.

Ambitions at Risk

Currently sitting fourth in the Moroccan Professional League with 30 points, Wydad find themselves below their target position.

For a club accustomed to competing for titles, the current standing has intensified scrutiny around the coaching setup.

With crucial matches approaching, Carteron’s fate may be decided in the coming days as Wydad seek a quick turnaround to salvage their season.
